OUR HISTORY

Building a Thriving Arts Community
The Arts

In 2007, a group of passionate individuals came together with a shared dream: to create an affordable, high-quality arts community in Eastern Boulder County, where such a space was desperately needed. At the time, there were limited options for after school programs, theatre classes, music classes, dance classes, and art classes outside the major hubs of Boulder and Denver. The founders of this dream recognized the gap and were determined to fill it, knowing that access to the arts is essential for a thriving, vibrant community.

With nothing more than a rented basement and a bold vision, they began offering theatre classes, art classes, and dance classes under the name “Arts Underground.” Despite the challenges of those early years, including the devastating impact of the Great Recession, the Arts Underground flourished, serving hundreds of children and adults across Eastern Boulder County. The community embraced this new opportunity to engage in after school programs that nurtured creativity and fostered a love for the arts.

As word spread and more people joined this burgeoning arts community, it became clear that the humble

basement would no longer suffice. Our teachers, supporters, and community members came together once again, this time with an even more ambitious dream: to build a permanent home for the arts. In 2016, after a multi-million dollar fundraising campaign, the dream became a reality with the construction of a new facility in Lafayette. Alongside this milestone, the Arts Underground was reimagined and reorganized into what we now proudly call the Arts Hub.

Today, the Arts Hub is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to fostering inspiration, community engagement, and a profound love for all art forms through dynamic and diverse programming. We offer a wide range of after school programs, including theatre classes, music classes, dance classes, and art classes, ensuring that the arts are accessible to everyone in our community.

Our journey is a testament to resilience, proving that with enough grit, determination, and community support, anything is possible. We have weathered storms, including the financial challenges brought by COVID-19, yet we have emerged stronger, more committed than ever to our mission. While many arts organizations have struggled or even closed their doors, we are proud to say that we continue to sell out shows and expand our programming.

We have never wavered in our commitment to our students, our artists, and the community we serve. As we look to the future, we remain steadfast in our dedication to building on our successes, creating new memories, and enriching lives through the transformative power of the arts. The story of the Arts HUB is far from over, and we invite you to be a part of the next chapter as we continue to grow and inspire.
