Staff Spotlight: Kirk Slingluff, The Arts Hub’s Production Powerhouse

At the heart of every great theater production is a team of creative problem-solvers, and at the Arts Hub, few embody this spirit more than Kirk Slingluff. As the full-time Production Manager and Technical Director, Kirk is the “firefighter” behind the scenes—ready to tackle any challenge that comes his way to ensure the show goes on.

A Day in the Life at the Arts Hub

Kirk joined the Arts Hub in February 2024, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a passion for every facet of theater. His days are a dynamic blend of scheduling designers, collaborating on set designs, and managing the technical direction for the adult season. No two days are the same, but each is filled with the energy and unpredictability that make live theater so rewarding.

His background is as multifaceted as his role. Kirk holds a BA in Theatre from Rowan University in New Jersey, where he explored every aspect of the craft. Inspired by artists who can “do it all,” he went on to earn a Master’s from CU Boulder in Theatre and Performance Studies, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Applied Shakespeare. Kirk’s gratitude for working in theater shines through in everything he does: “Every day I am grateful to work in theatre,” he says.

Season Highlights and Favorite Moments

When asked about his favorite project this season, Kirk lights up talking about his work as Production Manager on Anastasia. The production brought together a remarkable team of artists, and seeing their collaboration come to life was a highlight of this season. One behind-the-scenes story that brings a smile to Kirk’s face is the memory of a pajama party “understudy run” during Anastasia’s tech week. Watching the understudies thrive and step into lead roles was not only fun and exciting, but also a testament to the preparation and camaraderie that define the Arts Hub’s culture.

People First: The Arts Hub Difference

For Kirk, the most rewarding part of working at the Arts Hub is the people. “My favorite thing about the Arts Hub is how many talented artists are on the team collaborating, and the focus is always on the people—which is lovely,” he shares. The organization’s people-first philosophy creates a supportive, collaborative environment where everyone can do their best work.

Kirk’s story is a reminder that behind every on-stage moment are passionate professionals like him, working tirelessly to bring stories to life for the community.
